Things got off to a little bit of a rough start for this trip. But after we straightened out some driving arrangements it all fell together. Jim met me in Toledo Thursday morning, and after my early morning class I was finished for spring break. From there we packed up and headed south for Dayton. In Dayton we met up with Troy and Joey. We finally made it out of town around 10:30PM. Tony and Brett had left earlier that evening. The plan was to get to Athens, Georgia before sunrise and have time to take a nap before we rode. But that didn't go quite as planned.
On the way down we encountered a detour in Tennessee somewhere because of a rock slide or something that had covered the highway. So driving up through the middle of nowhere in the mountains on a tiny state highway added a little time to the trip. It was a sort of erie scene driving along the winding road in the middle of the night. There were no lights over the road, and you'd go for miles at a time without seeing a single house or sign of civilization. It definitely wouldn't be the best place to run out of gas or have your car break down, but luckily we made it back to I-75 without any trouble.
By the time we hit Atlanta we found ourselves in the middle of the morning rush hour. So that too added time to our trip. Once we finally made it out of Atlanta we only had another hour to Athens, but of course that didn't go smoothly either. I was in a tired daze and missed our exit. As soon as we realized we were on the wrong highway we found ourselves way north of Athens and nearly to North Carolina. A one hour trip turned into close to 3. We were lost. And when we did make it into Athens we couldn't find our way around. So Jay had to meet us at the local Wal-Mart and lead us back to his girlfriend's apartment where we would be staying.
At this point the only thing on our mind was sleep. We pulled into the parking lot and everyone was already unloading their bikes and gearing up for a street session. Luckily Joey and Troy got to sleep a bit on the way down, but for Jim and I we had both been up for about 30 hours at that point. So we loaded up on energy drinks and hit the street.
Mojo, Troy, and Jim rode the Miamisburg park outside of Dayton before we left. Mojo: dogpiss.
Joey "Mojo" Vance = lady's man.
Mojo found this carhart at the Miamisburg park. While he was in the shower Troy spray painted this stencil on it.
